A collection of reviews written since 2006, mostly for Lablit and The Short Review. I’m not very bright (nor enterprising), so when the editors of those sites asked me to write reviews for them, I said “oh sure”, and did, because they’re nice women. The usual reward was some other terrible book to read and write about. It took me only six years to get wise and cut that out. Now I’m reviewing only good stuff and abominations that make me angry, like Robert Pinsky’s robot opera.

The drawing on the masthead is by my daughter, six years old at the time. I feel lucky to have a child who can document my neglect in such an engaging manner.
